Hike description

Kom Vasojevički (2,461 m) is a striking and easily accessible viewpoint peak in the Komovi range, away from the main tourist routes. Its almost vertical north face and dramatic overall shape stand out at first glance.

Starting point – Eko Katun Štavna

The hike starts in the mountain settlement of Eko Katun Štavna (approx. 1,800 m), reached by a narrow asphalt road from Trešnjevik Pass. There is accommodation in wooden cabins, a restaurant, and parking available – an ideal base for hikes in the area.

Via Vera saddle to the main ridge

From the huts, a marked trail climbs gradually through meadows, later traverses a scree slope, and bends onto the hillside on the left. Here the ascent becomes steeper and is rocky in places, but technically easy – though sure-footedness and a head for heights are useful.

Kom Vasojevički

In the final section, the trail leads onto a panoramic ridge – on the right, a drop of several hundred metres opens up, while grassy slopes stretch away to the left. The summit of Kom Vasojevički offers 360° views – with Bjelasica, Durmitor, Prokletije, and the distant central highlands of Montenegro spread out before you. Directly opposite rise the other peaks of the Komovi range: Ljevorečki Kom and the highest, Kučki Kom. At the top there is a metal cross and a box with a summit stamp. A perfect spot for a break and a few photos.

Return the same way

The return follows the same route back over the saddle to the settlement of Štavna. In dry conditions, the descent is pleasant and safe; in rain or fog, extra caution is needed, especially in the upper sections.
