Chata pod Suchý, tucked away in the picturesque landscape below the summit of Suchý in the Malá Fatra mountains, is an idyllic retreat for anyone seeking peace, relaxation, and a close connection with nature.
If you arrive by car, you can park in one of the parking areas beyond the village of Nezbudská Lúčka. Continue along the road beside the Váh River until you join the red trail, which will lead you to the mouth of the Starohradská Valley.
If you are traveling by train, the hike will be a few kilometers longer. From the Šútovo train stop, head left on the yellow trail. After a few minutes, you will reach a footbridge over the Váh, where there is a hiking signpost marked Nezbudská Lúčka (360 m). Continue on the red trail, which takes you out of the village through an underpass beneath the railway, first across meadows and later along the Váh to the mouth of the valley.
Continue up the valley on a gently ascending path to the Podhradské (420 m) junction, where you turn right and climb to the ruins of Starý hrad, which offer a lovely view of the Domašín meander.
From the ruins, the trail climbs steeply, with occasional views of the river far below. The ascent ends only at the indistinct, forested summit of Plešel (981 m), from where a gently rolling forest track leads to Chata pod Suchý.
