Ladders in Jánošíkove diery, chains on Veľký Rozsutec, a via ferrata at Martinské hole, grassy and rocky summits, and a popular ridge traverse – Malá Fatra is a varied mountain range where everyone can find their kind of hike.
Malá Fatra is a little hiking paradise. You’ll find wide meadows where you can still hear the bells of grazing sheep, the narrow canyons of Jánošíkove diery with ladders and footbridges right above the stream, old-growth forests, and both grassy and rocky peaks.
Thanks to this variety, Malá Fatra truly has something for everyone. Do you enjoy walking mountain trails along grassy ridges and prefer to avoid difficult climbs? Then you can confidently head for the highest peak of Malá Fatra – Veľký Kriváň, or nearby Chleb and Poludňový grúň. Are you drawn to alpine hiking, scrambling over rocks, and sections with chains? It would be hard to find a better place for your first taste of alpine terrain than Malý Rozsutec and Veľký Rozsutec.
Want to try a protected climbing route – a via ferrata? The via ferrata at Martinské hole will put you to the test :)
And for all lovers of multi-day mountain treks, the ridge traverse of Malá Fatra, with an overnight stay in mountain huts or camping beside them, is practically a must.
