Hike description

Zbojnícka Chalet, a gem hidden in the heart of the High Tatras, is one of the most sought-after destinations for mountain hiking enthusiasts. Standing at 1,960 m above sea level in the Veľká Studená Valley, it is accessible year-round and serves hikers as a perfect base in the midst of unspoiled Tatra nature.

Hike to Zbojnícka Chalet

The route to Zbojnícka Chalet is full of scenic views and opportunities to spot local flora and fauna. Hikers can admire alpine flowers, mountain streams, and the Studený potok waterfalls, which add to the charm of the Tatra landscape.

The ascent from Starý Smokovec follows the green trail via Hrebienok, past Bilík Chalet, the impressive Studený potok waterfalls, and Rainer Chalet.

From there, continue on the blue trail, which starts as an easy uphill walk. This changes at a rocky section secured with chains. In summer, it is not particularly difficult, but if there is snow or ice, the route becomes more demanding. Then comes a steeper climb past Vareškové pleso to Dlhé pleso, from where you will already see Zbojnícka Chalet just above you.

If you want to shorten the ascent or descent a little, you can use the funicular to Hrebienok.

Although the route to the chalet is less technically demanding than some other Tatra trails, it still requires a responsible approach and respect for the mountain environment.
