An easy loop through Juráňova Valley and the surrounding beautiful mountain scenery in a less-visited part of the Western Tatras. Juráňova Valley features striking rock formations, cascades on the Juráň Stream, a few wooden footbridges, and even several rock steps with short chains for support.
From the signpost on the edge of Oravice, follow the red trail along the paved road through Tichá Valley. After about 1 kilometre, you can stop at a small wooden lookout tower and take in the surrounding meadows and peaks, with Osobitá (1,687 m) dominating the view to the southwest. A marked trail once led to this beautiful summit, but it was closed to protect the local environment, so the peak is no longer accessible.
Beyond the lookout tower, another roughly 1.3 kilometres of paved road lead to the Pod Šatanovou junction, where the red trail turns right, crosses the Oravica River via a wooden bridge, and then continues along a path across a picturesque mountain meadow to the Juráňova dolina, ústie trail junction.
Juráňova Valley hides countless rock formations and cascades of the Juráň Stream. Here and there, wooden footbridges help you across rough, otherwise difficult terrain—sometimes level, sometimes slanted. Right in the first section, you will even come across short rock steps fitted with a chain for support.
The walk through Juráňova Valley itself is fairly short, and after about one and a half kilometres the trail starts climbing the slope on the right up to Umrlá Saddle, where you can also rest on benches or shelter under a roof if the weather turns bad.
After a short descent, you reach the neighbouring Bobrovecká Valley at the Pod Umrlou junction. From here, the route continues down the valley on a blue-marked paved road, first through forest and then through meadows around the Bobrovec and Peciská gamekeeper's lodges. At the Pod Suchou dolinou junction, you can taste the mineral water of Sirkový Spring.
You can make the final forest section more interesting with a short detour along a wooden nature trail over the peat bog, which also has a small lookout tower. From there, it is only a short distance back to Oravice.
